Programme Overview

The Graduate Diploma in Journalism, Media and Communications prepares you for entry to the Masters programmes in the School of Arts and Humanities. The Graduate Diploma is rigorous and challenging and builds on your prior studies and experience. The course provides integrated academic studies in journalism, media and communications, advanced level English skills and higher level UK study skills.

The Graduate Diploma in Journalism, Media and Communications programme at Nottingham Trent International College is made up of the following:

Core Modules

Core modules teach the academic skills necessary for undertaking postgraduate study at Nottingham Trent University.

Core Subject Modules

Core subject modules cover the knowledge related to the field of study that the student has engaged in.

Journalism, Media and Communications Modules

Journalism, Media and Communications subject modules cover the advanced skills and knowledge, building on previous studies.

All modules are taught with your progression to Nottingham Trent University in mind.

English language tuition is also provided for students who need it.

Successful completion of the Graduate Diploma in Journalism, Media and Communications guarantees progression to Year 1 of a Nottingham Trent University postgraduate degree.

Progression Route

Students that successfully complete the Graduate Diploma in Journalism, Media and Communications progress into Year 1 of one of the following Nottingham Trent University degrees:

 

  • MA Newspaper Journalism (International)*
  • MA Online Journalism (International)*
  • MA Radio Journalism (International)*
  • MA Television Journalism (International)*
  • MA Globalisation, Identity and Technology
  • MA International Relations
  • MA Media and Globalisation

* Students must demonstrate the equivalent of an IELTS score of 7.0 through an internal test of English at the college.

All students articulating to journalism degrees will need to satisfactorily complete a journalism test. Students with an IELTS equivalent of 6.5 will also need to successfully complete the "Academic English for Journalism" module, undertaken from July-September, prior to unconditional enrolment on the MA.
